About Srijan
http://gurgaon.aidindia.org/Srijan
Project Type: Community Campaign
AID-Gurgaon has proposed the project “SRIJAN”, aiming at a Beggar Free Society (currently covering National Capital Region [NCR]). The initial phase of this project will focus on creating awareness among the public by means of schools, colleges, corporate, emails, flyers, banners, and media. We also plan to prepare a report on Beggary in India based on the survey we would conduct of the existing government facilities and programmes for beggars as well as incorporating general public’s suggestions/ideas. With that report, we would approach the government and other organisations working towards rehabilitation of beggars and extend a helping hand to work toward providing them (beggars) an alternative life support system.

Regular student Education Program (RSEP) We conducted a fund raising drive in Gurgaon to enable some of our bright students move on from our non-formal education to mainstream schools. As part of this drive Rs 60,000 were collected from the Gurgaon office and are being utilized to fund main stream education in form of scholarships. To know more about RSEP, click here. Holi celebrations We started with a lesson in colors from two volunteers. The kids did not disappoint and had all the answers. This was followed by the kids enjoying some grub from McDonalds. Sensitive that they are to family's needs, some of them saved it for later to share it with their families. And finally "Holi hai".................all the restraint which our kids (and us too) had displayed, finally gave way to full scale revelry - nobody was spared - the teacher, the friends, the classmate they had never interacted with before, the bhaiyas and the didis, and the onlookers - from left right and centre, the colors and the water came pouring. Republic Day celebrations in Unnati and Disha From dance to patriotic songs, from the loud roar of "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Jai Hind" to the respect of the national flag (we did not notice a single flag thrown on the ground), ball n bucket games to drawing competitions, from the sweets distribution to prize distributions, it displayed great organization effort by all the volunteers.
