| Computer Literacy Program (CLIP) |
As each of us muses about life, we recognize the importance of these electronic machines we call computers. Computers have changed the way we live and work. But there are several under privileged kids, who are oblivious to the existence of computers. The kids may find them lost in future if they do not get right exposure Computers now. To help the kids realize a bright future, AID Gurgaon has taken the lead in teaching computers to under privileged kids.
The initiative, labeled as Computer Literacy Program (CLIP), aims to empower kids with computer knowledge that will help them realize their full potential. The program is targeted at kids who are in the age-group of 10-14 and are keen learners. Currently we have succeeded in securing 5 laptops for this program and shall arrange for more laptops as we scale the program across other AID Gurgaon schools. We have also designed the curriculum (upload the curriculum and link it here) to match the needs of the kids. This curriculum acts as broader guidelines for us as well as the new volunteers to conduct the program. Please feel free to share your views on the curriculum.
Right from the day 1, the kids have been extremely eager about the program. In their zeal to learn computers they have even sacrificed their precious Sundays to attend the computer workshops. Their passion is a delight for us. We do have games and movie sessions after every class so that kids boost their enthusiasm.
However, certain challenges such as the 7 day gap between the classes, the children’s limited exposure to English and no-access to laptop on weekdays have slowed down the pace of learning. To overcome these impediments we plan to introduce the Buddy Mentorship Program in mid-September.
We are always on the lookout for new ideas and people to help improve this program. So join us in this noble initiative and contribute towards the betterment of the kids.
