Disha
We have started a new project Disha in Jharsa village in Jan'09. The operations and model are similar to that of Unnati. The school caters to students from 3-4 surrounding slums consisting of families of rag collectors. The initial student strength is 50. We have been able to acquire a community building in the village. A regular teacher has been hired to conduct the classes from 0900-1300. This includes some basic refreshment at end of each class.

We are planning to incorporate the following at Disha:
1. Find regular source of funding for the school operations.
2. Once the education funds are sorted out, plan to start a nutrition program on the lines of Nutrition programme at Unnati.
3. As and when we identify any deserving student, plan to mentor them indvidually and prepare for regular school admissions.
